Felt has long been an essential product in the lubrication of wire and applying high solid enamel coatings to magnet wire. The method comprises of reducing the viscosity of the enamel to a process-able range and then applying the heated enamel to the wire via a felt applicator. The coated wire is then passed through an over where the enamel is cured. This method provides a process for applying high solids, viscous enamels to fine magnet wire substrates without the disadvantages of dilution. The result is higher quality coatings, faster processing time and reduced process costs.
